I keep meaning to do better with my blog, honest. But life has been busy and finding time to recap it all has been challenging to say the least. So i'm pooling together three planned blogs into one, cause honestly for most people they are probably a little bit dull. So let's get an overview up, and start moving forward from here on out! Closing out the year So in the end I had a lot of down time at the end of the year, I had managed to secure a new job and had a three month notice period with little to do but kill time. So a lot of time was had on the turbo trainer. I put so seriously big weeks in, consistently with no real plan other than to hit a record. I also enjoyed a few longer rides into work and it was good carthatic exercise but not really structured. But after all the events it was nice to just switch off.
Runnng took a back seat as I was very burnt out from it and needed some time away. So in the end my yearly totals were: Cycling: 5604 (best ever) Running: 575 (3rd best)
Total (including walks) 6290 (best ever) So overall I was very pleased to have such a big year, but I had some reflecting and planning to do. Into 2025... What was clear is with a new job, that was more engaging, needing to be round my family and have a life that was balanced, it was time to focus on quality over quantity. (with one exception, more on that later) Still I wanted some events this year and I still believed I can achieve some long term ambitions. There is a chance to revisit an old friend and set off on a new adventure too. Virtual London Marathon: I don't know if I can endure another Ultra, so now its a road run with a view to a PB. Dragon Devil: I missed this event last year, and having completed it once, I believe I can pb this. Fred Whitton: A new event for me and one I've been eying up for a while. I've also knocked off a huge month in January, going over 500 miles, to replicate cycling to Plymouth and Back to mark the new job. It was hard and probably stupid. So here we are in Feb with me finally following a training plan to prepare for the above.
Feeling more me So here we are, facing some challenges, but feeling much better. I've loved the new job up to now, I've cleared my head and am slowly coming off meds. I'm a long way from the kitchen floor, but still have some way to go. So we are all up to speed and now the 2025 journey really begins, as I am just at the startline.
