The London Marathon shaped iceberg on my horizon.

Fundraising Target: £2,200 Current total: £484 https://www.justgiving.com/page/russrunslondon26 Current watch predicted Marathon time: 4 hours 15 Mins 21 Seconds The iceberg analogy of Marathon training is very apt I think. On the surface people see the success, but not always everything that goes into the training and the prep work:

As I get older, this gets more and more accurate. There is the diminishing returns of training, naturally I'm getting a little slower, I have less time to train, I have more in life to balance and more responsibilities. I don't begrudge any of that, I am where I want to be with my family. And with a charity place, there is more balance and commitment; the fundraising. Hitting your target is so important for the charity, you need to ensure costs are covered and they benefit from taking part. And to do that I need to hit £2,200; so that adds pressure. Putting on events, getting prizes, promoting that you are taking part; it can be a lot on top of family time and work commitments. But as the calendar turned to 2026, things are starting to focus a little. I'm putting a quiz together to help raise funds and that's coming into shape a little. I have a venue, I have prizes and I'm hoping people will turn up! My fundraising has hit just over £500 which is a nice milestone. And after a bit of a dip with my fitness, that is on an upward curve. I clocked my first 10 mile run yesterday, and while I won't break any records, it was nicely paced and I felt comfortable, so lots to build on. Balanced with my cycling, I'm starting to build up. I'm going to try and update here a bit more often, it's nice I am trying, the reality, well see the iceberg! But still, I'm here, chipping away and hopefully that tip of the iceberg will be me on the finish line in a few months time.
